Water left in your sprinkler lines freezes and expands, which can crack pipes, fittings, valves and heads. A blowout pushes the water out of every zone with compressed air so your system makes it through winter and starts clean in spring.

When to book
Book in the fall, before the first hard freeze and around your city's secondary water shutoff. If your sprinklers run on culinary (drinking) water, book before nights drop below freezing.
When does your secondary water shut off?
Secondary water is now off in most cities we serve. Water left in your sprinkler lines can still freeze and crack pipes, valves and heads.
We do sprinkler blowouts the last week of October and the first week of November. Book now to get on the schedule before the first hard freeze.

Sprinkler Blowout FAQs
When should I blow out my sprinklers in Utah?
In the fall, before the first hard freeze and around your city's secondary-water shutoff. In Lehi and Saratoga Springs that's around October 15. Don't wait for the first freezing night, because water sitting in the lines can freeze and crack parts.
My city already shut off the secondary water. Do I still need a blowout?
Yes. Shutting off the supply stops new water from coming in, but water stays in your pipes, valves and heads. Saratoga Springs, for example, tells residents each irrigation system must be completely drained to prevent freeze damage.
What happens if I skip it?
Frozen water can split pipes and fittings and damage valves and heads. You'll usually find it in spring as leaks, soggy spots or zones that won't run, and those repairs cost more than a blowout.
Can I blow out my sprinklers myself?
You can, but most small shop compressors can't move enough air to clear a whole zone, and too much pressure can crack fittings and heads. If you do it yourself, wear eye protection and never stand over a sprinkler head.
